Preparation of Beef Mince

This homemade beef mince delivers plenty of flavour, but feel free to substitute with your own recipe.

Ingredients

  • 150g beef mince
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 red pepper
  • Generous handful of fresh coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp liquid garlic
  • 1 tsp ground cumin

1. Finely chop the onion, red pepper and coriander in a food processor.

2.Combine with the beef mince and seasonings until evenly mixed.

3.Roll or break the mixture into rough marble sized pieces and spread over a lined baking tray.

4.Cook at 180°C for 10–15 minutes, or until fully cooked.

5.Drain away any excess fat before using as a pizza topping

Method

1.Preheat the oven to 300°C. Virtue’s Neapolitan bases are designed to cook quickly in commercial pizza ovens.

2.Place the Neapoltian pizza base onto a clean work surface.

3.Spread the pizza sauce evenly across the base, leaving a 2–3cm border around the edge.

4.Place the premade Mexican-style beef across the pizza.

5.Cook for 4–5 minutes, until the base is crisp, the cheese has melted and the beef is slightly browned.

6.Add dollops of the Macphie Jalepeno topping sauce across the pizza.

7.Garnish with sliced green jalapeños and freshly chopped coriander before serving.

Complete the recipe and Mexican inspired experience by adding a side of cheesy nachos with salsa or guacamole, or even pair with a Mexican style beer like a Modelo or even a spicy margherita.
